Re: [-empyre-] farewell
Hi -empyre-
It has been timely speaking of the economies of the art world in the last
weeks' posts. I think we all realise that our -empyre- forum is unfunded
and it continues only due to the generosity, passion, community spirit, and
often the deferral of income generating activities of its facilitators.
This volunteer economy is impossible to maintain for an extended period of
time, and, as I found in 2005, its actually nice to be paid to contribute to
your community. I've had a rest from -empyre-'s day-to-day activities and
I'm delighted to be able to return with renewed energy to this
significantly evolved soft skinned space.
We have had many talented and dedicated facilitators over the 5 years we
have been running: Adrian Miles (AU), Rebecca Cannon (AU) , Michael Arnold
Mages (USA) , Jim Andrews (CA), Felix Sattler (AU/GER). Currently -empyre-
is facilitated by Marcus Bastos (BR), Sérgio Basbaum (BR), Nicholas Ruiz III
(USA), Renate Ferro (USA) and Tim Murray (USA). We will sadly miss Tracey
Meziane (AU) who is permanently departing and Christina McPhee (USA) who is
taking a temporary break from the list production.
Tracey joined -empyre- in August 2005 and has produced 4 great months of
unique programming adding a particular perspective and Australian flavour to
-empyre- Now she has completed her Phd and is concentrating on pursuing her
artistic practice. Tracey we wish you the best with wherever your new
endeavors take you.
Christina has been with us since the early days in 2002 and has been
responsible for producing, alone or in partnership, a stunning 18 months of
exceptional dialogue since then. She bravely took on total responsibility
of organizing and editing the documenta forums, which offered incisive and
often surprising responses to the leitmotifs. Christina - enjoy that well
deserved rest and we look fwd to your return.
-empyre- is recruiting some smart new facilitators to compliment our current
team. If you think you have those qualities we need, please email us
